Peggy Reeves creates experimental photographic works that blur the line between photography and painting. Using analog and digital processes—including silver gelatin paper, Photoshop, and layers of acrylic gouache and ink—her work explores the unpredictable beauty of chemistry, light, and craft.
The two series featured at Lauren Clark Fine Art reflect this evolution, transforming photographic experiments into richly imaginative paintings and drawings.
Based in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, Peggy began working with alternative photography in the 1990s while teaching at a school with limited darkroom resources. What began as a practical solution soon became a personal artistic journey.
Her fascination with plants—both scientific and symbolic—informs much of her work. From the Hallmark-subverting florals in An Orgy of Saccharine Beauty to the lively, creature-filled world of No Longer in the Permafrost, her art evokes the raw energy of nature and transformation.
