Craig Clemow moved to Williamstown in 1981. Now retired from a professional life as a Clinical Psychologist, he has been able to devote more in-depth attention to life behind the camera lens.
“I have found that the development of ‘seeing’ is much like the development of ‘listening’. That it is not so much what I see, but rather how I see it. Observing the world around me becomes more of a process of being aware of, looking for the story, the theme, the intent of why I choose to take the photo – how might I compose the photo to help the viewer ‘see’ – help the viewer find their story? Should this photo be in color or black and white. What was the hue and saturation of the light and color on the day I took the photo? All these pieces go into the processing of an image and tells the story.
Like with listening – it is discerning what is noise, and what is meaning – and being able to sift one from the other. Then I am seeing and listening, and things come into focus.” - Craig Clemow
