Katie Malone-Smith is an artist who resides in Hinsdale, MA. She holds degrees in Art and Photography from the Hallmark Institute of Photography AA, and Paier College of Art BFA. She earned her graduate degree in Art Education from Westfield State University and a Master in Fine Art in Art Education from Boston University.
She is a traditionally trained photographer and spent the 90's as a film photographer working in darkrooms as well as for newspapers, magazines, various studios, and concert venues. Since then, she has continued her love of art and her artistic journey has blossomed to encompass a diverse array of mediums, including printmaking, collage, book arts, film, and mixed media.
Katie works as a faculty artist at Berkshire Art Center (formally IS183). She has worked as an Artist Educator at the W.E.B. du Bois Middle School in Great Barrington for over 17 years as a middle school public art teacher. A family of artists, at home, she works out of her studio which also contains her husband, glassblower, Clinton Smith's glass studio.
Their son who is in middle school is also an artist and his preferred mediums are drawing and sculpture. Katie is also an avid figure skater who has medaled at competitions locally, nationally and internationally.
Katie's art is a testament to her ceaseless pursuit of creative expression, blending experimentation with an ever-evolving artistic vision. Her works invite viewers into a world of depth, texture, and emotion, resonating with those who encounter them
