AITB Seeks Artists
Art in the Berkshires – Call to Artists
Art Gallery + Artisanal Shop + Community
8 Castle Street, Great Barrington, MA
Invitation for visual artists to enter a juried show at Art in the Berkshires’ new, curated arts space, celebrating the best of art, design, and artistic community in the Berkshires region.
About AITB and its current project
Art in the Berkshires (AITB) began as an online platform built to amplify the region’s artists, makers, and creative businesses—and to make it easier for locals and visitors to discover what’s happening in the arts. In 2026, we’re expanding into a physical location in downtown Great Barrington so we can bring that mission to life in a more tangible way. We aim to open in late Spring 2026 with an inaugural art show titled “This is the Berkshires.”
Our new space will be a curated blend of fine art and exceptional artisanal goods, alongside an inviting area for workshops, demonstrations, artist talks, readings, and hands-on learning. We’re building a shop that feels distinctly Berkshires: grounded in craftsmanship, originality, and thoughtful design—where customers can meet the makers, learn the stories behind the work, and bring home pieces that are made with real care.
If you’re a local artist producing work in the Berkshires (or surrounding regions), we’d love to learn more about what you make and explore possible placements in our opening show (April/May 2026).
Who can apply
To be considered, you must meet these requirements. There is no fee to enter this show.
Made here: Art must be produced in Berkshire County or surrounding regions. Western MA + nearby areas in NY/CT/VT are welcome.
Exclusivity: Art accepted into the show can only be sold through AITB for the duration of the show.
Show Quality: Artworks must be finished professionally and ready for display. We will not accept AI-generated artwork, giclee prints, mass-produced prints, duplicates, copies, etc.; only unique artworks or numbered and limited prints (lithography, photography, etc.) will be accepted.
What we are looking for
We plan on having 6 shows in 2026, each running from 6-8 weeks. We are actively searching for 2D and 3D art to be placed in our first show in April/May. The title of the show is “This is the Berkshires.” We want to see art that has a tie to the Berkshires in any creative way you see it. We may select more than one artwork per artist.
Subsequent shows will have their own call for art as dates get closer to each show. These show dates are set tentatively for: June 1 – July 13, July 18 – August 31, September 5 – October 19, and October 24 – January 4th. Artists may apply to more than one show.
Art Requirements
1. Ready to hang: Wall work must be professionally finished and ready to hang with gallery wire (no sawtooth hangers). Frame when appropriate.
2. Size & display:
a. 2D work: maximum 6 ft × 6 ftb.
b. 3D work: must fit easily through our front door (about 30" wide)
We have limited pedestal/stand space, so we’ll coordinate with you if a stand is needed—sometimes artists may need to provide one.
How the Selection Works
Step 1 — Apply: Email the requested info (listed in the next section below). Deadline to apply is February 1st.
Step 2 — Interview/Presentation: If your work is fit, we’ll schedule a short meeting (in person or virtual). We may request to see the artwork to confirm quality and fit with the show. We will ask to see a short Bio and Statement ahead of this interview.
Step 3 — Acceptance: Selected artists will receive show details (agreement, important show dates, etc). We will notify all artists by mid-April, 2026.
