Art Services

Artist and psychotherapist, Cindy Chandler-Guy, has spent her life weaving together her twin passions for art and psychology. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art and a Master’s degree in Studio Art from New York University, where she focused on sculpture and photography. Later, she earned her MSW and spent over 40 years as a psychotherapist. Even as her professional life evolved, art remained a grounding force—shifting from pottery to painting, and eventually to printmaking and pastels.

In the 1970s, she became an original member of the Asparagus Valley Potters' Guild. A self-taught ceramicist, she built a thriving business creating a line of functional stoneware that was sold in over 150 stores across the country. This period of working in clay honed her eye for form and texture, which continues to inform her current work in other media.

Today, she is best known for her expressive monotype collages and pastel paintings. Her monotype collages—ranging from abstract to scenic—are inspired by landscapes, cityscapes, and still life. She layers hand-inked papers, often repurposing elements from previous prints, to build playful and impressionistic compositions. Her pastels, often created en plein air or in the studio, capture the shifting light and seasonal rhythms of the Valley and her travels. Through color, pattern, and form, her work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and explore the emotional undercurrents of place and memory.
