I am a maker.
Greg St. John grew up in Ohio and currently lives in Warren, Connecticut.
He moved to New England in the late 80’s settling in Connecticut in 1995. In 1996 Greg set up a new studio in Kent, Connecticut and founded St. John’s Bridge LLC, a custom furniture and cabinetry business. In 2014 Greg refocused on his painting career, since then he has produced several large bodies of work.
“Since early childhood I have been driven to make art and create functional and nonfunctional objects. For me it doesn’t really matter what materials I use, I love them all; from pencil, paint, wood to plants in my garden each material is a vehicle to create”.
“The current paintings I have been working on stem out of my afternoon walks. The colors, shapes, marks and textures that I attempt to describe in my paintings are primarily being drawn from the natural world, the broader landscape and the world below our feet”.
Greg has shown in numerous galleries in Connecticut and New York, and his work can be found in a number of private collections throughout the United States.
