Artist Statement
Most of my current pieces are still lifes, although I like to approach them in a uniquely direct manner. Simply the object, subjected for consideration, often without the distraction of setting or environment. I feel as though this puts an additional weight on the subject matter that encourages study. I employ a degree of realism, but my work is neither hyper nor photo realistic. It's my intent to have my hand visible in the work. I'm always looking for contrasts. Size, texture, color, subject - or natures inevitable toll on an isolated object.
